This book is not written to win literary awards. Its my words, my feelings. All I want to do is open peoples eyes to the ever growing issues of abuse. I feel like taking on the world to protect every child and stop every perpetrator. It's impossible, I know, but this book is the first part of my story, this is what happened, I hope to publish my journey to overcome it in a few months and following through with my own personal projects has made me more determined to continue raising awareness of the abuse that happens behind closed doors. It s not about being a do-gooder, its about making a stand, showing that this behaviour is unacceptable and giving every child the start they need. I wish I could offer this book for free but unfortunately I cannot do that long term so instead it's on for the minimum price.

I really connected with this author as it seems we have the same mother (mam). In reading this book, it was almost like I was reading about own childhood. The author told her story and expressed herself well.I had to give the book only three stars because of the many, many errors in punctuation and misspelled words. Sentences ran on with no stopping and I had to figure out where one sentence should end and another one should begin. There were also some places where she was talking about one boyfriend but then would start calling him by another`s name. The author also repeated herself a few times.
The ending will leave you hanging. It's like the author ended the book in the middle of a sentence. Maybe there is a sequel I don't know about? What happened with Chris? With Ali? Did Leah lose her job again? When did she get back in touch with her parents?
Overall, I really admire the author for being able to tell her story and rise above all that was done to her. If there is a sequel or another book, I hope the author takes the time to do some proofreading.

I would have given it a higher rating but the editing was atrocious. It's an amazing woman who could live through that and then write about it with such candor.
A easy read but somewhat to graphic throughout the book. The story could have been told without all the graphic details.
the story was good and really held my interest.I really believed the life she led as abusers and enablers in a family can cause an innocent child's life to cause so much damage. I do wish, however, it was revealed about her husband. it kind of left me hanging.so the ending was a disappointment y
I find this book to have been a cleansing and brave undertaking. I so empathize with Leah. I do pray her demons have been exorcised. No one deserves the childhood and parents she had.
The great thing is history will not repeat itself for her children. She loves them deeply which is the least a mother can do for her kids.
The story is riveting, although the changing back and forth between first and second person by the author was a bit confusing at times. The spelling and punctuation were simply dreadful! Evidently, there was no one available for proof-reading. The honesty and insight of the author are admirable, and I recommend this book in spite of its errors.
Talk about sabotaging her future. University and a year in France, studying the language was dropped as soon as she became free and never mentioned again. I got tired of her constant (abusive) boyfriends and the ending was muddled up and rushed.
This book is very poorly written, bad grammar, bad spelling, poor story flow. It obviously was written by someone in the UK, which accounts for some of the language quirks, but seriously needs to be spell checked and proof read. I am only on chapter 7, but it is a chore to continue reading it, I find myself constantly trying to figure out what she's saying and concentrating so hard on that, that the story is not engaging my mind. I know this is a true story and really want to love the book and support the author for coming out with her story, but this simply is not an easy book to read and become engrossed in.
